The thought behind it all... Save Indian Wildlife !! It is our endeavour to complete an exploratory trip of almost all the national parks and many wildlife sanctuaries of India. Our mission is to make people more aware about the different aspects of the country's rich Ecology, Nature, Wildlife and steps required for their conservation. The idea behind the Wildlywise Nature Trail Project is to research and collect very detailed information and photographs, with the kind help of Kodak India, of Indian wildlife sanctuaries, National Parks and their inhabitants. The gathered information will be published on our website www.wildlywise.com. We have also been fortunate enough to be able to tie up with the world renowned "National Geographic" channel for extensive coverage on their Indian website ngcindia.com. Our aim is to promote awareness in India, as well as globally, through data that can be referred by students, nature enthusiasts, travellers and even serious researchers. Wildlywise will also provide a forum where people can exchange ideas, publish stories, articles and express their views on the subject. We hope to be able to popularise the Indian wildlife scene to the level of its African counterpart. By attracting this worldwide attention, we feel it would persuade the controlling authorities into giving nature conservation the level of priority it deserves and take more positive steps to ensure its survival. This approach has worked successfully in Africa and we feel it should do so here in India too. This procedure we feel would have a much more immediate impact, which is necessary for the continued existence of many endangered species. About the Expedition We intend to explore approximately 70 Wildlife parks across 17 states of India, covering a distance of over 45,000 kms. Our journey will take us across the length and breadth of our country. During the course of this journey we will also be meeting forest officials and local people to get their views on environment, nature and wildlife. The duration of the expedition is over a period of eight months and has begun in November 2000. We hope to do our bit to influence the future generations into understanding the importance of nature conservation for their own survival. |
